Bareillia is a medium-sized nation, a little over 125k square miles in physical size, with a population of around 90-100 million people.
It boasts a fairly diverse landscape, with a small mountain range in the east, the largest member of which being Mt. Bardo, towering roughly 17k feet tall. The mountains are a rather literal gold mine, as well as several other kinds of mining, giving rise to a fairly profitable mining industry to the east. The city of Killian, built roughly 2000 feet up the side of Mt. Bardo, is home to most of the mining companies, along with their workers and families. A little bit further up is White Skies Resort, one of the premier vacation destinations. It brings in a significant amount of tourist revenue, both foreign and domestic.
To the south is Lansing Bay, both the city and the bay itself, home to the local fishing industry. By no means anything special, but it's enough to make a living, and maybe even make a killing if you get lucky. Lansing Bay is also home to the Lansing National University, the only state university in Bareillia and easily the largest because of it. The size of the university has also spawned a fairly prosperous live music and club scene in the city.
To the northwest of Lansing Bay is Newcroft, capital of Bareillia and easily its largest city with roughly 1.5 million people. Also its tallest, boasting a possibly record-breaking number of buildings exceeding 100 stories in a certain area. Most of the companies based in Bareillia are based here.
In the west is Contega, the industrial center of Bareillia. Probably one of Bareillia's poorer areas, most of the people living in Contega work in one of the many factories scattered about the city, or they work at Contega Nuclear, the power plant that powers roughly 2/3 of the city by itself using some experimental technologies. There have been reports of sickness and other side effects among the workers at Contega Nuclear but most of them are fine.
Finally, nearly on the southwest border of the country lies Marshallsville, easily Bareillia's smallest major city at around 5,000 inhabitants. The land for miles around is given over to farming, and around 73% of all the food eaten by Bareillians comes from one of the farms in this area. The area is also home to the Marshallsville Armed Forces Base, the central headquarters of the Bareillian Armed Forces, as well as the headquarters of Exotech Inc. No one's entirely certain what goes on in the building, so they just sorta leave it be.
