Civilian Info
Name: Lanius Epoch, Lan to his friends
Age: 33
Sex: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
Occupation: Space Corps Ranger, assigned to Earth sector
Face Claim: Hidenori Goto (Samurai Flamenco)
Physical Description: Lanius looks human enough to blend in with the general Earth populace at face value. He has a head of dark hair that he keeps trimmed to regulation length. He has large, expressive grey eyes with bags underneath them. Most of the time, he wears his Ranger uniform. It’s composed of a blue undersuit with dark grey armour plating. The costume has two shoulder patches, one denoting rank and the other emblazoned with the planet-and-arrow emblem of the Space Corps. The helmet is blue with a black t-visor covering his eyes.
Personality:When it comes to his job, Lanius likes to do things by the book. While not an extreme stickler for regulations, he does follow the rules as best he can. He has a deep respect for law enforcement and anyone working to protect their home. Lanius’ most obvious flaw is his lack of understanding of Earth customs and protocol, which makes him stick out in a crowd. He’s not entirely sure how to act or look around humans.

Weaknesses:
- An incredibly severe allergy to gelatine, which is commonplace on his home planet. Just being in the same room as a gelatine product causes him to break into a coughing fit.

- Unfamiliarity with Earth custom gives him away, particularly if disguised.
Other Equipment:
- Rocket ship- The Lawbringer-Class patrol craft can carry up to eight passengers (technically one pilot, one passenger and six prisoners). It’s equipped with living quarters, six confinement cells, two ion cannons and four escape pods.
- Ion Blaster- Standard issue firearm for all Rangers, the IP-7 Ion Blaster fires ionic energy in single bolts. It has eight settings, from stun all the way up to disintegration.
History: Far, far away from the known Solar System is the collective of worlds known as the Grand Galactic Alliance, and their military police arm, the Rangers of the Space Corps. Rangers deal with intergalactic criminals and catastrophes. Being a Ranger in the Corps is tough, and not everyone makes it through the rigorous Academy training programs.
Lanius Epoch didn’t make it through first time.
Born on the planet Mindar, Lanius admired the Space Corps and their brave Rangers. He didn’t have any family in the Rangers, but the Corps was in his blood. Both of his parents were part of a Corps scientific expedition to the very edges of the universe, so he was often alone growing up. Yes, he was provided with robotic caretakers, but they were no substitute for a real family.
When he was old enough, he applied for the Academy, aced the entrance exam and got into the Academy. It was only then did his abilities start to slip. He’s still not exactly sure what it was that made him lose focus, but he began failing his tests and barely scraped by in the final exams. His overall grade slipped and he was unable to become a Ranger. As all his classmates graduated and received their honours, he was picked up by the Ranger Service Corps, nicknamed the “Second-Best Squad”.
He was reminded of his failure every day he went to work, when he saw the Rangers go out on missions while he stayed behind, tending to the base and doing the dirty work. The only thing that encouraged him to get out of bed every morning was the knowledge that he could re-take the Academy in a year. Wanting to pass more than anything this time, he worked his butt off to memorise every bit of theory and get as much physical training as he could.
A year rolled by, and Lanius got to go through the Academy again. Every exam he took, every simulation he ran, and every last bit of blood, sweat and tears finally paid off, as he passed and finally earned the Ranger badge. He has since gone on many missions in the name of the Grand Galactic Alliance, and his most recent assignment has taken him to a strange sector of the galaxy which is home to a small planet called “Earth”…
Anything Else?
Sample RP:
“Ranger Lanius Epoch, mission report,” Lanius announced, addressing the ship’s main console. “All the signs point to this moon as the location of the weapons trade, but there’s no sign of any ships.” He leaned back in his chair, sweating slightly under his uniform. The sun in this system was a young star, and burned brightly. Scanners were showing nothing except a few bits of debris floating in the void.
According to an anonymous tip Corps Command had received, there was supposed to be a trade between two minor galactic crime syndicates going down somewhere in this system. The tip had made it sound big, because apparently they were trading in banned weapons. For what purpose, they didn’t know. All Lanius had to do was take them down.
A blip on the scanner caught Lanius’ attention. There was an unidentified vessel closing in on the system. Another blip appeared on the other side of the scanner. Another ship, on an intercept course with the first.
“Computer, scan both ships for weapons,” Lanius commanded as he manoeuvred his own ship to a safer spot. A brief second later, the results of the scan confirmed what he suspected. These were the ships, and they were carrying shipments of Mass Drivers. These weapons were outlawed and embargoed by every civilised sector of the galaxy, and yet there was a big shipment of them here.
Command was going to love this.
