Rule 1: Conduct
In short, don't be a jerk. It creates an unnecessarily hostile climate for the site at large and it just makes everyone hate your guts.
Rule 2: Grammar and Writing
First and foremost, write legibly. Most browsers have built-in spellchecks nowadays, so hopefully this won't be an issue. There will clearly be some issues, so use your personal discretion as necessary, but at least have it be proper English.
Rule 2A: Word count
Don't worry, there isn't a formal word count. We're not one of those hoity-toity sites that are all "Myah, see, write 500 words per posts, see." However, please do try to write at least SOMETHING. A short paragraph should suffice, just give the next person something to react to.
Rule 2B: Spacing Dialogue
This rule really only applies to people who have multiple characters talking at once (and if you didn't learn this in grade school, I fear for your job prospects). Start new paragraphs when a new person starts speaking, please.
Rule 2C: No Script Writing
This is not your Screenwriting 101 course. Write in a narrative style, please.
Script writing, for those who do not know, is something along the lines of: “Jack (looks at Mary and blushes): Hi, my name is Jack…”
Rule 3: RP Properly
Do it right or don't do it at all.
Rule 3A: God-Modding/Power Playing
Don't take control of someone else's character without their permission. This could be as innocuous as posting "Jack punched John in the face". Write something more like "Jack tried to punch John in the face" instead.
Rule 3B: Auto-Hitting
If it needs to happen, then let it happen. If you're just fighting some common mugger, then fine, knock his ass out flat in one magnificent dynamite straight, but if you're duking it out with another player, see rule 3A.
Rule 3C: Double Posting
Don't double or triple post. Just edit the last post you made.
Rule 3D: Thread Derailment
Don't just waltz into a thread and Old Man Henderson it into some beast it was definitely not when it started. If you want to take a thread that is not yours in an unexpected direction, talk to the thread creator first. We have a PM system for a reason.
Rule 4: Listen to the Staff
We're here to help, but we will bring down the hammer. If you have an issue, just ask. If we make a judgment, respect it.
Rule 4A: Banning
We are armed with the banhammer, and we would very much prefer not to use it if we must. However, we very much can, and will, ban people who break the rules more than once.
Rule 5: Keep it PG-13
Cursing is all good, but use it in moderation please. Don't get too excessive with the blood and gore, and if two characters are about to go have a nice, hot dose of vitamin F, then for the love of God, take it somewhere else. Skip to the aftermath in the thread.
Rule 6: Characters
You can make as many characters as you want, but you must have gained at least 30 posts with your last character, and completed an RP thread. Do not abandon your old characters, please, but you can kill them off if you wish. We have no rules against that.
Rule 6A: Satellite Characters
If you want to make a satellite character onto your new character, that is ok. That does not have to abide by the above rule. Just add it to the same account and you are good, upon approval.
Rule 7: Starting Out
All players can begin with three characters at the start, ignoring the 30 post rule. For the next character you must get at least one of the characters to 30 posts and complete an RP thread, as per the previous rule.
Rule 8: Face Claims
No doubling up. The site is anime faces, so there's plenty to go around. If you can't find a face, go wander about here until you find one.
Rule 9: No Fandom Crossing
This isn’t Super Smash Bros. Your character can’t be Bruce Wayne or Indiana Jones; they can be similar but not an exact match of personality, face claim, and everything like that.
Rule 10: Biblical/Mythological/Etc.
Putting a stop to this before it becomes a thing. Yes, you can have people who've been empowered by gods/spirits/demons of that sort, that's all fine and dandy. We're drawing the line at characters who are ACTUALLY gods/spirits/demons/etc, because of two reasons. A) We don't want to tie the site to one religion and declare all other religions false for numerous reasons and B) there's the potential for such a character to be broken beyond belief.
Rule 11: Have Fun!
The most important rule of all. We're certainly having fun.
