Alex stood for a moment, watching her hurry on, before picking his bag back up and moving to catch up. He fiddled with his ring. He trusted his parents; they could know. The building had security cameras, though. And if Iron Brotherhood suddenly appeared in a different city, someone might get suspicious. Someone might make the connections.
Alex shrugged the thoughts off. He'd been to a website where people tried to figure out various superheroes' identities, and laughed at it rather thoroughly. They'd gotten his height right, but that was the only thing they had about Iron Brotherhood. Pretty much every 5' 10" male in Lansing had been accused of being Iron Brotherhood. Except Alex, somehow.

Sarah glanced back and saw Alex hurrying after her and slowed down. It would needlessly tire her to keep moving quickly, and she had already spent more energy than she should have talking. She didn't know what else normal people did while walking together, but whatever it was, he could lead this time. Sarah shifted the lavender and white backpack on her shoulders and adjusted the waist and chest straps. If they got to Exotech at the same time, he would be waiting for her to finish to see his mom, or he might sit in for the brief "how're you feeling, here's your meds." It wouldn't be hard to mask any questions on her abilities as standard health questions, but thinking about having that discussion in front of someone else made her uneasy. Either way, family time wouldn't be able to start until she left, so she just had to get in and get out as fast as Dr. Marlowe would let her.
Wandering around town after would probably be bad too. If she had to stop something, she would be going in at lower energy than she usually tried to reserve for that possibility. She could go shopping early in the morning, before villains were typically up. Today she could go home, curl up on her couch with a blanket, turn on some anime, and practice sewing while air-sewing. It was supposed to help her master the finer points of her abilities without wearing her out as much as fighting, and if she could get it to stitch straight it could help her business a lot. Right now it was still pretty zigzagy, but it was getting so she could sew normally while doing it.
She glanced back at Alex. Before she could get to the rest of the day, she had to finish this walk and finish her check-up, and then get home without anything she couldn't ignore popping up. Mr. Alex will probably be too busy with his parents to walk me home. If I don't have to talk, and I don't have to worry about having to transform while with someone, it would make things easier.

Alex noticed that she slowed down, and caught up easily. She wasn't talking anymore, and he didn't really know what to talk to her about. He didn't want to ask why she knew his parents; obviously it was going to be a very personal reason, given the medicinal nature of his parents' work. She was probably going to meet with Mom to talk to her, since Mom always liked to check in with people, see how they were doing. When he was attending boarding school and later college, she called him once a week, like clockwork. She'd kinda slowed down since he graduated and starting working more and more, but he still tried to call her every now and then.
If something cropped up, it would be bad. The thoughts started racing through his head about what might people think, if Iron Brotherhood suddenly shows up in a different city, in Marshallsville of all places. Then again, it was publicly known that he could clone himself, so maybe someone would brush it off as just a clone, IB just trying to keep the whole world safe. Honestly, Exotech was probably in greater danger than the city itself, so if he was already there when something went wrong, he just needed to get his parents and a couple other researchers out. Then all he had to worry about was the cameras.
